So, last night there was going to be a huge take-over of a building in the Wall Street area, with the theme: "Beautiful things come out of desperate times." True enough, but not in the Financial District, apparently.
We arrived around 1 a.m. and the Danger party had already been shut down by the cops, who were blocking off the entire street from entry, unless you seemed to clearly live there. "It's a fire hazard," they said.
And were the people at the Danger party hoping it would open up again?? -- because despite the ability to send mass e-mails via even a regular cell phone these days, there as yet *hasn't* been any mass e-mail to the would-be party-goers of the party's shut-down. Not impressive.
I have to say, though, their party did sound well worth it; but next time, I won't try to attend underground debacles in such havens of convention, but rather try to stay in Brooklyn and seek out the abandoned warehouse parties closer to home, where they will be less likely to be shut down!!!
The Danger's original post follows... :sigh:, I wish it had really been able to live up to all of the hyped-up glory!

I was there for an hour before it was shut down and I have to say it was a great experience- fire acts, burlesque dancer, hammocks, art, and a blender attached to a bike to mix drinks. Need I say more.
The owner of the building showed up and started kicking everybody out- he was so surprise to see that there was a party thrown in his building- I wish it would have last longer, oh well till the next one.
The Star that burns twice as bright, shines half as long... I have been to heaps of these parties and after arriving at 11AM it was possibly one of the wildest nights I have shared with the "Burner" community in NYC. I arrived to find the scantily clad vixens of Lady Circus writhing to wholesome tunes, that gave way to a gorgeous tutu sporting Goddess bellowing with an accordian in both French and Russian. Ascending, I found a brass band (OH yes, tubas abound) churning out a "horny" version of Nirvana's, "Smells like Teen Spirit". Then, ascending the fire escapes with the throngs (my, and the FDNY's only qualm w. the party)I found myself on the rooftop to observe some visionary fire twirling... Trillied down past the Ol Skool hip hop room, down past the row of people making out in hammocks, ducking under nets by some stellar sculptures to the 2nd level to watch 3 songs of my new favorite funk/ska/surf rock group called Handsome devils, before we were languidly ushered out by the popo. It had all the making of the Greatest Danger Party ever, that would challenge that which I experienced in SF.
I would say one of last years greatest Danger Parties was hosted on the South Street Seaport. So, although the BK scene is nothing short of 1015 Folsom in SF,I would be super keen to go to any of the NYC events. This locale may just happened to be a bit ambitious, and the response was a gathering of some of the most enlightened souls in the 5 boroughs, yet overwhelming to say the least.
If there are any other "Burner" lists/venues, I would feel blessed to make this my standard weekend adventure. Heaps of Love, Nature & Nurture. B~
